Okay, I admit it...

...I've been slacking off. Well I would have been if I wasn't so busy! I got a bunch of cleaning done this week + I have half of my special orders done and posted! But I have been neglecting my blog. Bad blogger! No cookie for you! Anyway since it's rainy (or at least gloomy) today, I can focus on finishing my special orders and getting a blog update ready for tomorrow. :) I guess since I have a minute I'll give you a quick update of what I've been up to.

First, I did a special order striped fish and had a bunch of blue swirly clay left over, so I made another starfish magnet!

Pale Blue Mottled Starfish Magnet

I think he turned out cute. I have another fish to make today in pink, so he might end up with a sister. :) What else have I been doing? Oh, I took a bunch of pictures of my stuff and my brother Tony's (DigitalMushroom) stuff. I'm not sure when he's going to post his new pieces though, since at the moment he's finishing up his senior year at Rowan University. But I'm sure once he's done with school, he'll have a lot more time to work on his shop! :)

One of the pieces I took new pictures of was my beehive pincushion. If you've been following me for awhile, you might remember the during pics from this piece waaaaaay back in August of last year! It took me a little while to figure out how I wanted the finished piece to look. I decided to go simple instead of adding to it. So here it is!

Beehive Felt Pincushion with three Honey Bee Pins

I like the bees. :) They came out cute! Though I noticed while I was fixing the pictures, that I forgot to give them stingers. So I guess they are pacifist bees. :)

Since my kids have been outside in the gorgeous weather lately, I've also been working on my sewing. I started on a new pincushion.

It's a log! Well it's going to be a log. Right now it looks a little strange. I think for the pins I'm either going to do three mushrooms, or a mushroom and some bugs. I'm not sure if it will be all brown, or if I'm going to sew some moss onto it. We'll have to wait and see. :)

The other piece I'm working on is a Harry Potter shield ornament. It's the Hufflepuff house shield. And for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, I've included a picture of the actual shield (minus a couple of slices that I cut out). You can see the whole shield, without the cuts, here.

Once again, I have been working on this one for a long, long, long, long, long time! This one has given me quite a bit of trouble, but I'm almost done! Just have to finish the lettering and a couple other small details. I had done a Gryffindor ornament first, but that one only took a week or so to finish.

So that's what I've been up to. Plus cleaning, and watching the monkeys...I mean children. :D Hope you've been productive lately. Have a great day!

As promised!

I am in fact too busy for an actual post. :P But I do have one all ready to go for tomorrow! We are still working on potty training with mixed results, and I have gotten through 3/4's of my special orders! Yay! So just so I don't feel like I am totally neglecting my blog, here are some of the pieces I just posted in my shop!

Spring Bird Nest with Robin Eggs Magnet

This one is reserved, but I can easily make another one (and I'll be reposting it after it sells!). The next one is something for those of us with too much rain in our life at the moment.

Rainbow in the Clouds Polymer Clay Refrigerator Magnet

And lastly, one I am particularly proud of:

Purple Pansy Spring Flower Polymer Clay Refrigerator Magnet

I couldn't figure out how to do this one at first, but once I did, it became incredibly easy! :D So I am going to repost this one as a design your own with custom colors, after this one is sold.

I hope you have a great Easter! See you tomorrow! :)

**Update!**

Just sold most of these pieces! (That was fast!) So I reposted the nest and the pansy. Let me know if you'd like me to repost anything else!

Feeling Better :)

I'm glad I took it easy today, I feel much better tonight. :) I did end up reposting the Thanksgiving pieces that just sold. So here they are! :)

Thanksgiving Harvest Indian Corn Polymer Clay Magnet (Made To Order)

Thanksgiving Harvest Cornucopia Polymer Clay Magnet (Made To Order)

Thanksgiving Pilgrim Hat Polymer Clay Magnet (Made to Order)

Thanksgiving Roast Turkey Clay Refrigerator Magnet (Made To Order)

I reposted a couple other fall pieces too. Feel free to check them out here, if you are interested. :) And since my cousin Amber is bugging me about it, here are the pins I made up to go with the sushi pincushion I just posted.

"Wasabi Paste, Pickled Ginger, and a Cup of Soy Sauce"

I like the ginger and the wasabi is okay, but the bowl of soy sauce came out not so great. The bowl part is too thick and the white clay ended with a bunch of fuzzies stuck to it. Really, it just looks bad. I was going to just remake that one piece and then include them with the nigiri, but I tried them out with it, and it just didn't look right. I think one of the things I like about the salmon nigiri, is it's very simple looking. And adding the pins just took away from that too much. Since the ginger and wasabi did come out pretty good, I might try to remake the soy sauce next time I'm playing with the clay. But if I do get it right, I'll sell the pins separately.

Time for bed. Goodnight everyone!

Later! :)

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Well, that was fast!

I was going do a quick post about the Thanksgiving pieces I made, but they sold already! So I guess this is a quicker post then I thought. :)

I did post my nigiri sushi too. And since that's still there, here you go!

Nigiri Salmon Sushi Felt Pincushion

It turned out really cute, but I didn't like the pins I made to go with it, so I'm selling it by itself. :) Maybe I'll repost those Thanksgiving pieces as custom listings. Hm... If I do, I'll let you guys know! :)

Stupid Time Change...

I hate time changes. I doesn't matter if it's forward or backward, it always screws up my sleep pattern, which is not that great to begin with. So right now my body thinks it's about 11:30 and it's not even 10:30 yet. Yuck...

On the upside I got a lot done today. I finished up my special orders for Thanksgiving and made an extra piece too! :) I was gonna post them tonight, but my brain is not functioning enough to do that, so they shall be posted tomorrow instead. But I will post a pic of the non-special order piece I did, because it came out REALLY nice! :D

I love the way this piece came out! :) I wasn't planning on making it this detailed, but it just kinda turned out that way. I also made a cooked turkey, Indian corn, a pilgrim hat, and canned cranberry sauce, but those are special orders. I'll let you guys know when I post them all.

Oh and Halloween yesterday was totally fun. :) I'll post pics when I've gotten them from my aunt (cause she took all the pics). Alright time to clean up my sculpey mess.

Later! :)

Sculpey Night

So tonight was a sculpey night. I finished my special orders for this weekend and got everything packed up for mailing tomorrow. I also started on some special orders for November and I was going to do some more Halloween pieces, but my children were not being very cooperative this evening, so I didn't get a lot done.

I can't believe it is already the middle of October! Where did the fall go? Of course my next question is where did the winter come from! It barely got above 45 here today and we have a frost warning for tonight! I guess I need to break out my fuzzy slippers, my feet are freezing! :)

Tomorrow is errand day, so I probably won't get a lot done. I am hoping to get some pics of my brother Tony's (DigitalMushroom) newest pieces (I forgot to do that today). He made a cute Kittycorn, a Space Invaders magnet, and an original robot piece. I'll post pics of them tomorrow night when I get back from wandering. :)

I think that's all for the moment. Oh I added a flickr feed widget to my blog. Keep watching, cause in the next couple days, I'm going to be adding some really cool pics of our trip to the sculpture park, Grounds For Sculpture, that we took last weekend. I'll let you know when I post them.

Okay I officially need to go find my slippers or some fuzzy socks of some kind, MY FEET ARE FREEZING! :)

Featured Seller of the Day 10/07/2009

Today's Featured Seller is from the Geekery section of Etsy. Her profile reads, "I like veggie burgers, rock, and hot showers." Her shop is called:

MagnetGames

She specailizes in making neat items (mostly magnets) with perler beads. What is a perler bead? Well it's a tiny plastic "O" that you use to make different patterns and then iron them together so the pattern becomes permentant. And what is the best thing to make with perler beads? 8-bit video game characters! :)

Mario Magnet Set (25 pieces)

I mean really, how cool is that? :) You can arrange a whole super mario level on your own fridge! Looking for something a little bigger, maybe for your computer/game room? How about this?

Flying Goomba Wall Art

This Flying Goomba wall art piece is great! I love the little baby goombas. :) And if you don't see your favorite videogame character, just send her a Convo, and she'll be happy to make one for you! One more piece in honor of my Mac using, art major, brother Tony. :)

Apple Pride Magnets (2 Pieces)

Tomorrow I'll be featuring another Geekery seller! ::Hint - They make wallets!::

Craft Circle Day

Well I got a lot done today! My husband Pat stayed home so I could get more work done then normal (and cause he needed a day off too). He ended up making bread, and I ended making all kinds of stuff!

First I started a new pincushion. It's going to be a casino dice (umm...die) with poker chip pins. here are the durings.

I hoping to finish the pincushion part tonight. Then I made some gumdrop pins for the cupcake pincushion.

The cupcake pincushion however did not turn out at all like I wanted it too. But I did post it as a Second.

Sweet Vanilla and Cherry Cupcake Felt Pincushion

I would have put the gumdrops with it, but they looked stupid next to the whipped cream. And I was happier with the gumdrops then I was with the cupcake. So I think I'm gonna make a gumdrop pincushion to put them with. I also finished the leaf and the tomato.

Tomato Felt Pincushion with Three Decorative Sewing Pins

Green Leaf Felt Pincushion with Three Decorative Bug Pins

They came out cute. I like the tomato the best. :) I also did three Halloween magnets.

Halloween Witch's Hat with Candy Corn Ribbon Clay Magnet

Halloween Trick or Treat Paper Bag Clay Magnet

Primitive Halloween Ghost Clay Magnet

I like how they came out too! The hat is my favorite. :) I love the candy corn. And now I think I shall finish the die. And maybe start on the gumdrop? I'm not sure yet.

Happy Sunday! :)

Good Morning! :) I stayed up too late last night how about you? I did get a lot done though. All I have left to do on my Harry Potter ornament is the wording and sewing a back on. Oh and I made a quick sculpey piece last night too.

It came out prety cute, and it didn't take that long to make. I would have kept doing clay, but I thought our Movie/Game night guests were going to be working in the diningroom (which is where I am set up at the moment), so I cleaned it all up. Of course after I finished cleaning, they decided to play games in the kitchen instead! ~sigh~ Oh well, at least I got one made.

Tony (DigitalMushroom) didn't end up coming last night, so we'll have to post his stuff on Wednesday at Craft Circle. Alright time to finish this ornament, so I can get it posted! Then pics of the new stuff later (if it stops raining).

To Nana's House We Go!

Today is Hamilton day. Heading into Hamilton Square with the kids to visit my mom, so my children stop driving me nuts! They like Nana & Papa's house better then ours cause Nana's house has a kiddie pool! :) Of course I think it's supposed to rain all day, but at least we'll get out of the house for a bit. I'm bringing my felt stuff with me. And I'll either work on my Harry Potter shield, or maybe make a couple quick fall ornaments. Depends on my mood.

I think my magnets from last night came out okay. I need to make a few more "interesting" ones. I think the ones from last night are a little plain. Not that that's bad or anything, I just like the harder to make ones better for some reason.

Okay I think I'll work on Harry Potter, till it's time for the boys nap. I need a nap too this morning! :)

Thanks Magnet

Oh and here is the pic of the "Thanks" magnet! Hopefully I can get better pictures taken tomorrow. Goodnight for real this time! :)

DONE!!!!

Oh my gosh my brains are gone! But I finished! I have to tell you, even though I feel dumb admitting I can't cook clay tonight, These pieces almost didn't make it!

I made up 4 magnets including the "word" magnet I was talking about. I put them all on the tray, then I preheated the oven. This is where the problems begin... One of the babies started fussing, so I got up set the timer and went and checked on him, but forgot to put them in the oven! So I came back and waited the 15 minutes for the timer to go off. BEEP! Go to the oven, turn it off, open it, and there they are...gone! So I take them off the table, put them in the oven, reset the timer and wait another 15 minutes. BEEP! Go to the oven, open it, take them out and notice that they are not cooked...cause THE OVEN IS OFF! ARG! So I turn on the oven, put them in, and then stop and try to figure out how long I should cook them now, cause the oven was hot, just not on. I put them in for half the time. BEEP! Nope not done, 5 more minutes. BEEP! I don't care if they are done or not they are coming out! Luckily this time they were done. ~sigh~ You'd think I hadn't done this like 20 times in the last 2 months! :)

So I finally got them posted. Please check them out they took me an hour to cook! :)

Goodnight everyone! :)

~Humph~

I have writers block...well sorta. I can't think of what to put on this magnet. I ended up with cool red and orange swirl clay after I finished my maple leaf, so I thought I would make another word magnet (example here). But I'm not sure what to put. It kinda looks like fire, so I was think "passion", but their aren't any good verses for passion. Then I was thinking "sacirfice", but I didn't really find any that really struck me either. I already have a "love". Though I guess I could do another one. Then I was thinking since it's fall colors I could do "thanks" or "thankful". I actually like "thankful", but the clay retangle came out kinda small, and I'm not sure that I could fit it well. Maybe I'll see what "thanks" verses I can find, and if I don't find one I'll do "thankful". I know I can find one for "thankful"!

Okay, sorry about that, I just needed to clear my head. Words tend to get stuck in my brain. :)
