Hey Diddle, Diddle

It's a full harvest moon tonight so I thought today's nursery rhyme should be Hey Diddle, Diddle. I always liked this rhyme, because it's just plain nonsense. And a kid, nonsense was the best kind of sense. Grown-ups had boring logic and us kids, we had nonsense. Of course cows could jump over the moon. Just like little girls could climb into mirror worlds and stuffed animals could talk. It was a given that fantasy could be true even if it was only in our imaginations. I think adults would be better off if they played pretend on occasion. When you can imagine that fantasy is a possible, a whole new realm of real-life possibilities opens to you. Enjoy the treasury! :)

Hey diddle diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon,
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Nursery Rhymes

Lately I've been singing nursery rhymes to my kids at bedtime. It occurred to me that nursery rhymes would make a good series of treasuries. So, that's what I'm going to do. For the next few weeks I'm going to feature a different nursery rhyme each week. This week is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it! :)

Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross,
To see a fine lady upon a white horse;
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
And she shall have music wherever she goes.

Bunnies! :D

Yesterday when I opened my curtains I saw bunny on my lawn, and thought, "Oh how cute! I haven't seen any bunnies around since we moved!" Then I went about my day. When I was cleaning up after lunch I happened to look out again, and noticed that the bunny was still there. I thought that was kind of odd, so I went outside to see if it was okay. I got about three feet away from it and it didn't move from its spot. Oh it looked at me, but it still stayed "hidden" in the grass. So I decided to go back in the house and call animal control, cause I was afraid maybe it was sick or something. Nope! It turns out it was a pregnant bunny who thought my grass was tall enough to make a nest in! Luckily the animal control guy was able to scare her away. A front lawn in not a safe place for baby bunnies, especially when my husband is planning to cut the lawn tonight! I'm glad she was okay, I was afraid she'd been hurt or something! I'll let you know if she comes back, but for now, please enjoy this selection of Etsy bunny rabbits! :)

Ewww!

Okay I have a confession, while you might have noticed in one of the last posts, that I enjoy mud, I HATE bugs! There are crawly and yucky and creepy! Unfortunately I have 3 boys, and they just discovered bugs, and they love them! One of my twins pull up a rock in the garden and found a whole bunch of creepy crawlies and just sat there and stared at them for 15 minutes. :) He tried to pick them up too, but I told him that wasn't a good idea cause they might get squished...or mommy might freak out! :) So in order to face my fears a bit, today's theme is going to be bugs! Enjoy!
