I almost forgot!

Weekend Updates!

It was another busy weekend in this neck of the woods. Friday night was my twin sons' and my nephew's birthday party. They were born almost exactly a year apart, so we do all three birthday parties the same day. :) I made them a train cake, it turned out really cute!

I also did another yard sale this weekend. This time however, I forgot to use sunscreen and now my nose and the tops of my ears are soar. :( But we sold more stuff this weekend, so it wasn't a total loss. :)

Best of all, I finally finished the Ravenclaw ornament! :D

You can see how I made in my In Progress Photos set. I'm thinking about doing the Hogwarts Shield as well, but I think it might be too detailed to do in felt. Maybe I'll try it clay. Hmmm...something to think about. :)

Busy Weekend!

Man am I beat! Saturday we had a yard sale to clear out the last of the big stuff that we have no room for in our new house. While we did get rid of a lot, we still have a lot of big stuff left. So we are going to try again this weekend. Yay. Sunday wasn't too bad, but I was so tired from Saturday, that I have a backlog of stuff to do today. :P I did get some sewing done though. I finished outlining the lettering on my Ravenclaw ornament and started filling in the letters. Here's the last pic I took.

Oh I added a couple more things to my destash shop (SpringToDecember), and a vintage Smurf pin to my main shop!

Nice Relaxing Weekend :)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was nice and relaxing, and I actually got quite a bit done too! I finally got around to fixing the pictures from my "little" brothers' graduation. Here they are after they both walked. :)



They both graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors Concentrations! Alex (on the left) got a degree in Accounting and Tony ([DigitalMushroom] on the right) got a degree in Art with minors in Advertising and Art History. Identical twins, but very different. :) If you know anyone in the New Jersey area looking for fantastic workers in either Advertising/Illustration or Accounting let me know! They are both available for hire! :)

I also did a LOT of work on my Ravenclaw ornament! I think it's turning out pretty well. :)



I got the raven attached. The wings were REALLY hard! I'm going to back the whole thing with black when I'm done, so I'm hoping that will give them a little more strength, but we'll see. The banner turned out nice. But I have a LOT of embroidering to do yet! More updates soon!

What else? Oh! Tony (DigitalMushroom) Made a really cool video game treasury in Treasury East this weekend! Check it out!

No school, like the old school!

Three down...

...two to go! I finally finished my Harry Potter Slytherin ornament! :) I think I'm either getting better at this, or Hufflepuff was way harder then Slytherin! I'm hoping Ravenclaw is even easier, but looking at the wings and some of the other details, I'm kinda thinking it won't be.

As an update to my last Harry Potter post, I have still not found our copy of Harry Potter in the large group of boxes containing my husband's books, but once I do I am going to read the first book. My husband is very glad that you all have persuaded me into reading it, as he has been trying to get me to start the first book since we got married. :) Anyway, once again in honor of finishing the ornament, I present a Harry Potter themed mini treasury! This time however, it is dedicated strictly to Slytherin! Enjoy! :)

Update!

So I have been cleaning more or less all morning and figured I'd stop and take some pics (since I uncovered where I usually take them). This is the latest Slytherin ornament pic.



It's coming along well. I'm still not sure how I'm going to do the purple ribbon that's wrapped around the black edging, but I'm sure I'll figure it out! :) Okay, back to cleaning! :)

Not a good blogging week.

So when was my last post? Wednesday? I think it was Wednesday. Last week was the worst. For no particular reason; it just was. The kids were cranky and didn't sleep well, the husband has a cold, and the weather was terrible! Tuesday it was 50 Thursday it was 90. That's not cool on any level. I'm not sure why my kids weren't sleeping well, but even if they had been I still wouldn't have slept well, because my husband was coughing and sneezing all night for, well, a week! Arg!

Luckily the weekend was pretty mellow, and I did get a lot of sewing done. Plus I finished a commission for my cousin Amber.


It's a creepy pendant from what I've been told is an equally creepy, but artsy, Russian video game called The Void. It's a copy of the moon from the game, which for some reason, has a big eye on it. The pendant was the finishing touch on her custom My Little Pony she created in homage to the game. She's a video game nut (much like the rest of my family). :) Here's a pic of her finished pony.


Strange no? But that's what she was going for, so I'm glad I was able to help. :)

In more normal (yet just as geeky) news, I've started on my 3rd Harry Potter ornament! This one is going to be Slytherin! I posted some during pics on Flickr and I'm going to take a couple more when I'm done here and post them as well. Here's the roughed out shape with none of the embroidery done.


I've actually gotten all the checker board background done and started on the black and purple edging. Here's a link to a picture of the actual shield, if you've never seen it. Okay scratch that. After taking another look at the shield pic just now, I just noticed that there are little black diamonds inside the cream colored checker board pattern, that I have yet to put in yet. But it's still coming along nicely! :)

I was going to do a selections post this morning, but I never got around to it, so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I can tell you that it's going to be May themed and I might make a Treasury East treasury to go with it (if I find enough cool pieces!). Okay, off to take pictures and clean up all the Goldfish crackers my kids just mushed into the carpet. Have a great day! :)

This post is a little late today, because I didn't want to post it till I had finished the Hufflepuff ornament. And I just finished it! That only took FOREVER! :) Anyway, in honor of me finally finishing the ornament, today's theme is Harry Potter. :) I probably shouldn't admit this, but while I have seen the movies, I have yet to read the books. I know, I know, they are really good and worth the read (as most of my family tells me every time it comes up), but I haven't had a chance to do a lot of reading in a long time! So I'll leave it to you, good readers, do you think I should start reading the series? Let me know in the comments if you think I should. :) Ready for some magic? Here we go!

Okay, I admit it...

...I've been slacking off. Well I would have been if I wasn't so busy! I got a bunch of cleaning done this week + I have half of my special orders done and posted! But I have been neglecting my blog. Bad blogger! No cookie for you! Anyway since it's rainy (or at least gloomy) today, I can focus on finishing my special orders and getting a blog update ready for tomorrow. :) I guess since I have a minute I'll give you a quick update of what I've been up to.

First, I did a special order striped fish and had a bunch of blue swirly clay left over, so I made another starfish magnet!

I think he turned out cute. I have another fish to make today in pink, so he might end up with a sister. :) What else have I been doing? Oh, I took a bunch of pictures of my stuff and my brother Tony's (DigitalMushroom) stuff. I'm not sure when he's going to post his new pieces though, since at the moment he's finishing up his senior year at Rowan University. But I'm sure once he's done with school, he'll have a lot more time to work on his shop! :)

One of the pieces I took new pictures of was my beehive pincushion. If you've been following me for awhile, you might remember the during pics from this piece waaaaaay back in August of last year! It took me a little while to figure out how I wanted the finished piece to look. I decided to go simple instead of adding to it. So here it is!

I like the bees. :) They came out cute! Though I noticed while I was fixing the pictures, that I forgot to give them stingers. So I guess they are pacifist bees. :)

Since my kids have been outside in the gorgeous weather lately, I've also been working on my sewing. I started on a new pincushion.



It's a log! Well it's going to be a log. Right now it looks a little strange. I think for the pins I'm either going to do three mushrooms, or a mushroom and some bugs. I'm not sure if it will be all brown, or if I'm going to sew some moss onto it. We'll have to wait and see. :)

The other piece I'm working on is a Harry Potter shield ornament. It's the Hufflepuff house shield. And for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, I've included a picture of the actual shield (minus a couple of slices that I cut out). You can see the whole shield, without the cuts, here.



Once again, I have been working on this one for a long, long, long, long, long time! This one has given me quite a bit of trouble, but I'm almost done! Just have to finish the lettering and a couple other small details. I had done a Gryffindor ornament first, but that one only took a week or so to finish.

So that's what I've been up to. Plus cleaning, and watching the monkeys...I mean children. :D Hope you've been productive lately. Have a great day!

Progress Update

So I'm almost done with the Hufflepuff ornament. I have a couple details on the badger to finish. Then all that's left is the lettering and putting a back on it. So if I didn't have a special order to work on tomorrow, it would probably be done by Monday. As it stands now, it will probably be done Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm going to do some sculpey work this weekend (another reason I probably won't finish till Tuesday). I'll be making a couple more Halloween pieces and also some Thanksgiving pieces. I also need to get my butt in gear and post some Christmas pieces! I actually have a felt gingerbread set that is almost done that I need to finish too. Anyway, in case you are curious, here's another pic of the Hufflepuff ornament.

Uh oh...

I'm stuck. I'm not sure what color felt to do the badger on the Hufflepuff ornament. Here's what I have so far.



I'm not sure if I should do the badger in black & white, black & gray, or gray & white. Drat...and I thought this one was gonna be easy!

Not too bad I guess.

I didn't get quite as much done today as I would have liked, but considering most of it was spent playing with the kids, I did get a good amount done.

Very recently I convinced my mom, who started my love of crafting longer ago then I will admit, that she should start making things to sell again. She recently had back surgery, and needed something to work on while she was resting up. So here is her first piece.




Her name is Not Even the Mouse. You know, like from the poem? "Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, Not Even the Mouse." Okay, so it's "not even a mouse" in the poem, but whose counting? :) Anyway, she used to make bunches of these (along with lots of other stuff) and sell that at craft shows. So now I talked her into selling them on Etsy instead. :) We just have to think of a good name for her shop, then I'll help her open it up.

This evening I worked on the Hufflepuff ornament some more. Here's more progressing shots.




The little upside down fleur-de-lis are taking WAY longer then I would like, but I started it, so I'm gonna finish it. Hopefully now that I've got the shape down, they'll be quicker to make.

Okay it's late, I'm starting to get silly. :) So here is this evenings progress. Not much, but it's getting there. If you'll notice this time I'm not doing all the detail work behind where the banner and animal are going to be! I'm learning! :)

And no it's not the picture, the badger and banner are pixely cause that's how it printed for some reason.

Stupid Internet

Well as I was uploading the following picture to the web last night, my internet decided to cut out. Here is last nights post:

I worked on the Harry Potter Hufflepuff ornament this evening. I got a lot done too. I finished the black and gray edging and I got the yellow background sewed on (it's not sewed on in the pic, but I don't feel like retaking it). The cut-outs on the edge are slightly more irregular then I would like, but the technique I used worked perfectly! :)



The next order of business is to do the black embroidery in the background. But that will have to wait till tonight, as today is my youngest's 6 month doctor's appointment, and I will be in Hamilton for the duration of the afternoon. But whatever happens today, at least it's Friday! :)

I forget what my last post was. Well right now I'm working on another Harry Potter house shield. I was going to do Ravenclaw, but I don't have the right color blue. So instead I'm doing Hufflepuff. Now I'm not sure if my current plan is going to work, but here is a in progress shot:

Lazy Sunday...

...well it would be if I didn't have kids. :) Haven't gotten a lot done today, but it has been kinda relaxing. :) I think I'll have the Harry Potter ornament done by tonight. That's it for now!

Good Morning! :) I stayed up too late last night how about you? I did get a lot done though. All I have left to do on my Harry Potter ornament is the wording and sewing a back on. Oh and I made a quick sculpey piece last night too.



It came out prety cute, and it didn't take that long to make. I would have kept doing clay, but I thought our Movie/Game night guests were going to be working in the diningroom (which is where I am set up at the moment), so I cleaned it all up. Of course after I finished cleaning, they decided to play games in the kitchen instead! ~sigh~ Oh well, at least I got one made.

Tony (DigitalMushroom) didn't end up coming last night, so we'll have to post his stuff on Wednesday at Craft Circle. Alright time to finish this ornament, so I can get it posted! Then pics of the new stuff later (if it stops raining).
