Not going to post a lot this week...

...but I promise I will be back after the craft show, that happens to be THIS SATURDAY AAAAAAHHH! :O Kidding! :) I'm not quite panicking yet. I probably should be as I have yet to even do a mock up of the tables, but I guess I'm still in the denial stage of this craft show. ;)

Anyway, today's mini treasury's theme is one of my favorites! Its theme is Needlecraft! Obviously I'm slightly biased, as am I a sewer, but I still think it's a really cool category. I thought this might be a difficult treasury to make, since I figured most of the needlecraft pieces would be in the needlecraft category, but boy was I wrong! There are so many talented needlecraft artists in all of the categories it was actually hard to choose which pieces to use, rather then it being hard to find items to use at all. :) And without further a due, here is today's mini treasury! Ah Monday!

How I love thee! :D No don't worry, it's really me and I'm perfectly fine! I'm actually happy today is Monday, because my lovely husband has taken the day off and we our going out to lunch WITHOUT the kids!!! Haven't done that in a LONG time. :) So not only does this week not have a "Monday", I also get yummy food, AND a kid free afternoon! Who could ask for anything more? :) Oh, you want me to do another mini treasury too? Okay, since I'm in a really good mood, here is today's mini treasury!

This one was actually a little tricky, because it was based on the Patterns category. What I ended up doing was using two different types of items. Half of the pieces were made using upcycled sewing patterns and the other half of the pieces are patterns or tutorials. I think it turned out really cute! I hope you like it!

So much to do...

...so little time to do it. I am so not ready for this craft show next month! I need to get my butt in gear and make some magnets and pincushions, or my table is going to be empty! I did get a lot of stuff done this weekend, but I still have a lot to do this week. I have a whole bunch of vintage stuff to post, including some medium format cameras and lenses, and I have a bunch of half finished projects to finish, on top of cleaning and chasing my crazy kids around! :) Everybody wish me luck! This promises to be a crazy week! :)

Anyways, today's mini treasury is inspired by quilts all over Etsy. My mom collects quilts. She has a million of them! So it was interesting to me to find quilts on Etsy that weren't really quilts. :) Enjoy!

It's Bacon!

Okay, I'm taking a break from my treasury series, to show you what I've been doing lately. :) I've created a couple new ornaments in the last couple weeks. The first couple are old ideas that have have recreated as ornaments. Long, LONG ago, I made a felt advent calender from scratch. It took me two years on and off to finish it.



So I thought this year it might be fun to remake some of the little advent ornaments into full sized ornaments! :) The first one I did was the easiest:

Red Felt Heart Christmas Ornament

I'm thinking of make up a pink one and making a listing for a pick your own color heart listing. We'll see. :) Then I moved on to a slightly more complex one (and my favorite from the calender):

This was a fun piece to do, though for some reason, I had a heck of a time with the base! I just couldn't decide how I wanted it to look. But I think it came out really cute! :)

Then I made up a couple new pieces. I while back I had bought some yummy colored felt from TheDailyPincushion. I used some of it to make my sushi pincushions and ornaments, but the rest got lost in the shuffle when we moved. While the kids were sick, one of the things I did was organize my workspace a bit better, and in the process I found all my cool colored felt! So I decided to put it to good use and make this:

Isn't that strawberry felt delicious? :) I must have been in a food mood, because the other piece I made with the new felt was: bacon!

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure why I made felt bacon either, but it turned out really cute! And on that note, I've made up a little bit of bacon heaven, for your enjoyment! Please don't eat the pictures!

I guess I should have taken this week off instead of last week! All three kids are currently cycling through a stomach virus: 1 down, 1 currently sick, 1 to go. I'm HOPING beyond hope, that my husband and I don't get it too! Anyway, I was able to post a new piece I finished Monday. It's a sugar plum, and it's the first fully beaded piece I've ever done. It came out cute! :) It wasn't has hard to the beading as I thought it was going to be. If this piece sells I may do another plum and maybe a couple other beaded pieces. :) Anyway, since I didn't have a lot of time to come up with another theme, today is officially sugar plum day on my blog! Enjoy!

Today is supposed to be my day off, but I had a great idea for a treasury when I was working in my destash shop today! :) It a treasury of all different kinds of buttons! Some are handmade, some are vintage, and some are commercial supplies! I thought it turned out really cute! Check it out!

Update Day

Let's see...what have I been up to? Oh yeah! I posted a bunch of stuff in my destash shop (SpringToDecember) yesterday. I found a bunch of embroidery items that I wasn't using and figured I'd pass them on to someone who needed them. :) I also found some extra beads from last Christmas.

Hmmm...what else? Oh while I was digging around, I found some miniature dollhouse Christmas ornaments, that I had when I was growing up! I don't know how they ended up in my sewing box, but since I don't have a dollhouse anymore, I figured I'd post them.

I'm currently working on a gingerbread man felt ornament, but I don't have any pictures to post yet. He started out as a plain gingerbread man, but he has evolved into a Russian gingerbread man. Their designs are cute, their colors are bright, and they have something for everybody! Don't believe me? Well then, do you like really cute animals? Then how about an ipod case featuring featuring this total cute elephant?

This adorable little guy is having a lovely time eating apples from the trees near by. Besides just the felt, this piece is also highlighted with seed bead flowers, for that extra sparkle! Not into cute elephants? How about Star Wars?

R2-D2 was always my favorite! And now you can use him to hold your ipod or your phone. This piece (like all the others) is complete hand cut, sewn, and embroidered. A pretty good likeness considering it was all done by hand! Don't need a gadget case? How about a hand embroidered bracelet?

This beautiful bracelet was inspired by Japanese cherry trees in full blossom. The contrast between the white faux pearls and the black felt is truely striking! A very beautiful piece!

Today's featured seller is a fabric artist that specailizes in felt. Her shop is called:

One of my favorite things about this artist, is how colorful her pieces are. They are bright and beautiful and most of all lots of fun to look at. For example:

Tropical Lime, Turquoise, and Orange Felt Flower Brooch or Pin with Vintage Button Center

The turquiose blue in this flower brooch seems to jump out at you. It is highlighted beautifully by the contrasting orange and yellow leaves on one side. And to balance it out, the artists has put pretty sage green leaves on the other side. The softness of the flower is also contrasted nicely by the smooth button at its center, pulling the whole piece together.

This is a more monocrome piece. But by adding a touch of contrasting color, she is able to set it off perfectly!

Citrus Phone or Camera Cozy One in Stock

The lovely citrus yellows and oranges go perfectly together and stand out beautifully against the charcoal grey background. But by adding a few jade green buttons, she made the piece seem to spring to life! I little bit of contrasting color can go a long way. :)

Now on to my favorite piece. :)

Julia combines natural themes with environmentally friendly materials. The products that result are natural looking and elegant in their simplicity. Here is one of my favorites.

Maple Seed Pod Linen Napkins

I love maple seeds (or helicopters as we called them as kids) and here that theme is presented simply by a single block print stamp on a natural linen napkin. Proving the beautiful does not have to be hard or complicated.

Here's an example of some of her embroidered work. A simple cosmetic bag.

Poppy Cosmetic Bag

Notice how the single poppy stands out beautifully on the untreated natural linen bag. I love the contrast between the red flower and green stem, and how instead of doing an exact copy of poppy, she used a circle to represent the petals and give it a clean uncluttered look.

Simple elegance can even be a part of your cooking! Look at this lovely linen apron, accented with green leaf sprigs.

The green leaves seem to be quietly growing out of the pocket of this piece. Practical, sustainable, beautiful, and elegant! Julia's pieces are the perfect way to add a touch of green to your house! :)
