I've decided something...

... It is much harder to get stuff done on my blog, when my husband is home. It's not his fault per se, I just don't seem to be as motivated to be online, when there are other adults around to talk to. But enough with excuses, on to today's theme! I was thinking yesterday about New Year's resolutions. I normally don't make one, because I generally don't end up keeping them. But that did get me thinking about what the most popular resolutions are. I found a list on wikipedia (one of my most favorite places to surf besides Etsy) and thought, "Hey, these would make a good set of themes for my blog!" So that's what I'm going to do. For the next week or so, I'm my blog's theme is going to be New Year's resolutions! Have one that's not on the wiki list that you'd like me to try? Post your idea in the comments section, and I'll see what I can do. ;)

Today's resolution is one that my husband is always on my case about: eating more fruits and vegetables! According to the United States Department of Agriculture's food pyramid, the average adult needs between 2 - 3 cups of vegetables and 1-1/2 - 2 cups of fruit a day (depending on age, weight, etc.). Fruits and vegetable contain essential vitamins and minerals not found in other foods, plus valuable fiber that helps our bodies run properly. I know I don't get enough vegetables and most days I tend to just barely sneak by with enough fruit. So if you are like me this might be a good time to resolve to eat more of these two neglected food groups! Enjoy these yummy looking examples of healthiness, while you think about how you can fit some more of them into your diet!

If you are stuck for ideas on how to fit more fruits and veges into your diet, check out The World's Healthiest Foods. They have a bunch of really yummy, free recipes, using foods that give you the most nutritious bang for your buck! My favorite so far is the Garlic Shrimp Salad with asparagus, tomatoes, and goat cheese! Now that I've made myself hungry, I think I'll go have an apple! Have a healthy day! ;)

  1. What a great way to post on your blog. It's such a creative topic idea. Yes, I'm one of those who needs to eat more fruit. My only New Year's Resolution this year though is to pump out one illustration a week.

  2. Thanks! I find having a theme is easier then trying to pick a new topic everyday, so in a way, it's cheating. ;) That's a good resolution, I should do something similar as I haven't finished anything I've been working on since the week before Christmas!
