The Beach is Calling Me!

I did a treasury today in Treasury East with a beach theme. :) I soooooo want to go to the beach today! Unfortunately I have to stay with the kids. :( And taking three kids to the beach by myself ain't happening. Bah humbug! :P But hopefully some of you out there will be able to take advantage of this beautiful weather! Enjoy!

Farmer's Market

I want to go to the farmer’s market this weekend, I have a craving for fresh veges and berries. :) At our old house, there was a roadside farmer's market less then 5 minutes away, now it's about 15 to 20 minutes away. Which of course means we don't get fresh veges every day anymore. :( My husband is the most upset by this. I think he could live solely on cucumbers and peas. :) Since they've come in season, he's made cucumber and onion salad at least once a week! I'll see if I can get the recipe from him and post here later. Anyway, today's theme is one of my husband’s favorites: cucumbers! I guess I've been in kind of a green mood lately. ;) Enjoy!

Choo Choo!

My twin sons and my nephew were born almost a year apart. They missed having the same birthday by two days! So we are going to have a joint party for them this year, and the theme is going to be trains. They are obsessed with trains right now! So I am going to attempt to make them a train birthday cake, and each kid will get their own train car with a candle on it. It should be cute! :) I'll post pics of it here either Sunday or Monday, because the party is Friday. But I thought today I would do a train themed mini treasury to get me in the mood to attempt this cake! Enjoy! :)

Something Sweet and Spicy!

I had know idea what to do as a theme today. Then I happened to stumble across a thread in the forums and found a really cool shop called Mariadiana Designs with beautiful hand painted and drawn greetings cards such. I thought their stuff was amazing and one of the drawings inspired me to make this hot and spicy mini treasury! But don't be fooled by all the jalapeños, most of their cards are actually in the cupcake and candy family of foods, and all of them are very sweet! So please enjoy this lovely green and spicy selection of Etsy jalapeños! :)

Busy Weekend!

Man am I beat! Saturday we had a yard sale to clear out the last of the big stuff that we have no room for in our new house. While we did get rid of a lot, we still have a lot of big stuff left. So we are going to try again this weekend. Yay. Sunday wasn't too bad, but I was so tired from Saturday, that I have a backlog of stuff to do today. :P I did get some sewing done though. I finished outlining the lettering on my Ravenclaw ornament and started filling in the letters. Here's the last pic I took.

I was going to take a pic of this weekend's progress today, but it's cloudy out. :P If you're interested you can check out my In Process picture set on Flickr, to see how I've made all my Harry Potter ornaments so far! :) Umm...what else...

Oh I added a couple more things to my destash shop (SpringToDecember), and a vintage Smurf pin to my main shop!

I know I did more stuff, but my brain can't think of anything else right now, so I guess I will see you tomorrow!

Have a great day! :)

La, La, La!

I've been in a musical mood lately. I LOVE music and it's a big part of who I am. Even though I can't read music or play an instrument, it's always been important to me. I remember when I was little my dad would play songs for us on his guitar and sing to us at bedtime. There was always singing in church on Sundays and we'd even go to hymn sings now and then at friends houses. When we got older my sister and brother and I would listen to records or cassette tapes of children's songs as we fell asleep at night. And of course growing up in the 80s, I would watch MTV all day (back when they actually played music videos). Once MP3s came out I ripped all my CDs onto my computer so I could listen to them whenever I wanted. Now you can almost listen to whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want! I still can't read music or play an instrument, but I can enjoy listening to those who can. And if no one is around, I can sing with them too! :) I hope you enjoy today's selection of music themed Etsy finds!

A Rose...

...by any other name would smell as sweet. I LOVE roses. :) They are one of my favorite flowers. They come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors, but I've never seen one I didn't like. :) The language of flowers, which was was popular in Victorian times, used different types and colors of flowers to relay secret messages between lovers. Included in the language are over 10 different color roses! A yellow rose stood for friendship, pink for grace, and red for true love. :) Even today a dozen red roses is still a very popular gift to show how much you love someone. The rose also happens to be the birth flower for June. And though I haven't found anything that says if a certain color is supposed to be used, I decided to make today's mini treasury a beautiful, bunch of deep red roses! Happy Birthday (once again) to all of you born in June! Enjoy! :)

Hopscotch and Other Reasons to Throw Things

For some reason my kids love hopscotch. I think it has something to do with their love of counting and their love of throw things. :) So my parents got them a foam hopscotch board for their birthday. They LOVE it! They having been playing with it non-stop since we gave it to them last night! The only problem I've run into is while the older kids like to actually play hopscotch, the little one likes to take it apart and throw the pieces around instead. :) But at least they are all playing together, sort of. ;) Anyway I thought hopscotch would be a cute theme for the day, so here you go! Goings On

I got a LOT of stuff done in the last couple of days! I've gotten a bunch more done on my Ravenclaw ornament, but I forgot to take a picture of the progress since the last one. I'll take one tomorrow if it's not rainy. I also reopened my destash shop SpringToDecember! I retook all the pictures and relisted everything. I'm going to be adding some vintage lace too, but that probably won't be for a couple days.

But the most exciting thing I did, was donate a piece to HelpTheGulfCoast! All of the proceeds go to helping with the Gulf Coast Disaster! 50% goes to Oxfam America and 50% goes to National Audubon Society. :) So far I donated this:

Pink Spotted Starfish Polymer Clay Refrigerator Magnet

I'm also going to make a couple more pieces to donate featuring some of the wildlife that is in danger from the spill. Well I guess I should get back to work! Have a great day everybody! :)

The Month of the Pearl

This month's birthstone is the pearl. Pearls are unique in the world of birthstones as they are not actually a stone. Pearls are actually calcium carbonate that a mollusk (like the oyster) wraps around a piece of sand or grit that gets stuck inside its shell. The coating keeps the particle from irritating the mollusk. The longer the pearl is inside the mollusk the bigger the pearl becomes. The most precious pearls are perfectly round and smooth, but pearls come in many shapes and colors; each with its own unique beauty! Since pearls are made by mollusks and not shaped by people, each one is unique. The pearl is associated with modesty, chastity and purity. So in honor of all my friends and followers who were born in June, here is a collection of beautiful Etsy pearls! Enjoy! :)

~ Treasury of Elements ~ (part three)

Last one! This one was tough! There are a LOT of cool fire items on Etsy! :) I think I managed to find a bunch that looked really cool...I mean hot together! Enjoy! :)

~ Fire ~

From little spark may burst a mighty flame. - Dante Alighieri

This was a lot of fun to do. :) I'll have to see if I can think of some other themes that would work together. If you have any idea for what I should try next, leave me a comment! I hope your day is not too hot! Bye for now! :)

~ Treasury of Elements ~ (part two)

I just finished the third Elements treasury: Earth! I'm going to do Fire now, and I'll post that when I'm finished. This is a lot of fun! Enjoy! :)

~ Earth ~

~ Treasury of Elements ~ (part one)

I've been having fun with Treasury East today. I decided to try a series of treasuries and see what happens. So I'm doing the four elements: Air, Water, Earth, & Fire. So far I've done Air & Water. I think tomorrow I'll post Earth & Fire. I love that you can make treasuries when ever you want now! :)

~ Air ~

“Do not worry if you have built your castles in the air. They are where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” - Henry David Thoreau

~ Water ~

Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it. - Lao Tzu

I'll post the other two tomorrow. Maybe I'll even do a mini treasury to match! See you then! :)
